Overview:
Following repeated failures of the potable water transmission pipeline between the Sharqiyah Desalination Company and Sur, CID Gulf was appointed by APSR to lead a comprehensive technical investigation. The goal was to determine the root causes of the incidents, evaluate the pipeline's resilience, and assess the operator’s response actions.
Scope of Work:
Site visit to Sur and meetings with stakeholders Assessment of pipeline routing, material, and age Root cause analysis of repeated failures (wadi crossings, weather impacts) Evaluation of OWWSC’s incident response procedures Infrastructure resilience scoring and compliance with local standards Recommendations and implementation roadmap to avoid recurrence
Outcome:
CID Gulf’s report provided APSR with actionable recommendations and identified structural, procedural, and operational improvements needed to enhance the pipeline’s resilience. The findings supported national water security planning in vulnerable regions.
